I moved!

…Figuratively

After a year of spotty blogging here I decided, rather than try and bring this page back from the dead, why not start fresh on a new page all together.  New page, new attitude, NEW BABY!!  That’s right..Baby #2 (Levi Haddon) has arrived and you can hear more about it HERE!

Thanks for stickin’ with me guys!

Ah snap.

(To state the obvious) I haven’t really been posting much lately.  Its not for a lack of wanting to, its mostly contributed to a lack of physically sitting down and doing it.  I feel like I have been streaming consciously tons of ideas I have been dying to write about but when it comes time to actually articulate written thought, I have either forgotten the main premise or simply don’t have enough time to devote to saying what I want to say in a orderly or concise way.

I also have spent some time traveling this past month which has kept me away from the computer and as luck would have it, I forgot to bring my camera along for the journey.  I am terrible about this!  It makes me ashamed to even call myself a former professional photographer since I so rarely make it a priority to shoot these days.

I have some ideas for creating some scheduling/routine to my blogging so I can be a little more consistent in posting come fall (September), with a little wiggle room for random posting of course, but while I take some time to flesh this out I have come up with an idea as to not neglect my corner of the internet.

For the next 35 days, this will be a photo blog.  Each day will be simply a photo submission.  Each title of my post will indicate the theme for that days photo and which number in the count it is.  This should lead me right into Labor day when I make my first “real” post again!  Anyone else want to join me for 35 days of photo blogging?

It’s coming..truly!

take a peekSo I said a while back I was going to revamp my site and start blogging regularly from then on.  Just as I was preparing to make changes to the design and composing topic lists to write from it hit me..I was about to head out on an 8 day vacation with my family to Florida where I wouldn’t have computer access.  So, deflibrating my poor blog just days before another sad hiatus, I decided instead to postpone my “hatch day” (as Tammi coined it)!

We returned from our trip late Saturday night with mounds of laundry and a very sick husband in tow.  He had caught what turned out to be a nasty 48-hour stomach virus that had us considering leaving him behind in Florida for a few days to stay with family and recuperate.  He decided to make the flight home, choosing the comfort of his own bed and surroundings, despite the discomfort of traveling.  It wasn’t easy I’m sure but he survived and is feeling great as of today.

He took one extra day off of work (Monday) so that we could restore our home and lives to working order.  I was able to complete the front half of the house but the bedrooms still need some work.  I am satisfied though to have completed as much as we did.  All the laundry is clean and put away which is a rare treat in this household.

So, personal stuff aside…what to expect from ONE URBAN MOM in the future.

1. As I have stated in my “About Me” page I am a Christian pastors wife.  I would like to write more on occasion about who I am in this role and the many  blessings as well as struggles that come with this calling (the good, the bad, and the ugly).  I am NOT your typical pastors wife and I like to keep it that way.

2. I have many things in life that I can say I am passionate about.  I have found myself in particular finding myself vehemently passionate about issues specific to the environment, women’s rights, mothers, and childbirth.  I know these can be touchy issues for many so I will state a disclaimer most often when writing on these topics.  I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel that certain truths are more right than others but I am also a big advocate for each person having a right to opinion which I will personally be expressing here.  The reason I believe what I do is because I have an open-mind and I never imagined that in doing so I would find myself the person I am today.  SO, I ask all readers to please read also with an open mind.  If you disagree and want to talk about it lets talk…

3. I love cooking, sewing, photography, and I am also learning how to knit.  I will probably blog a lot about these topics and post project ideas as well as recipes, etc..

4. On Saturdays I will not blog.  My family practices something called “Sabbath” which is a day of rest.  We have chosen to include ceasing all use of media/electronics on this day (no TV, computers, iphones, etc..).

Keep reading..there’s good stuff to come!  I can’t wait to start blog surfing again too…it’s been far to long since I have visited some of my favorite sites.

Under Construction

I am working on revamping my page..all that to say, my plan is to be back to regular (daily) posting come Monday.  I will be able to start getting around commenting as well by then. I’ve missed reading my regular pages.

In the meantime I will be celebrating my 29th birthday on Sunday!  Should be a great weekend.

Inspired

I have been discovering tons of new blogs..mostly those written by other moms.  I find myself mostly drawn to foodies, crafty types, and activists of all kinds.  I think this is because I am a closet crafter (although I have a lot of room for improvement), I am constantly looking for ways to wow my family menu in a household full of picky eaters and I love trying new foods, and because I too am an activist in certain respects.

So, if you find me lurking (rarely I lurk long..I love to comment) its just because I admire you in some fantastic way!  I hope you find something I have to say over here remotely interesting too and you’ll pop in from time to time.
